I have been practicing yoga for 30 years and guiding practice for 17 years. Yoga is an integral part of how I live my life, and I believe that yoga is a liberatory practice! We don’t need specific clothes, studios, yoga mats, props, music, or any of the western trappings to receive the benefits of this ancient South Asian pathway to union. The practice we join draws from various traditions, including the teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar and Sri Krichnamachrya. I am currently humbled to be studying with Susanna Bartkatoki and the Ignite Yoga Institute, deepening my commitment to decolonizing yoga and learning more strategies to use the limbs of yoga to support my role as a changemaker. I also draw on years of experience teaching dance, kinesiology, and somatics to inform how we approach working with our bodies. Movement and breath come together to support nervous system harmonization and increased vagal tone while encouraging our bodies to move with more ease, freedom, and balance!
